Dry September,
Dry September was really strange. They used some bad language in that short story that I don't approve of. At first I didn't really get the plot and I was really confused on the characters, meaning that i wasn't really sure who was talking each time, and i was also confused on if they were white or black when they were talking. Also This short story wasn't really appropriate for our grade both aspects of the story were really harsh. To me I don't know why they even put this story from the 1930's in here when you know the author is going to use harsh language because at the time this story took place the U.S. was segregated until the 1950's. Once I saw the harsh word I knew this story was going to se it a lot and offend black people because of the use of the word.

post #2 for 9/30 plus reading log
My short story is called Good Luck, I choose this title because my character starts off as a really smart kid who always obeys and never does anything bad in his life. My story take place in Los Angelos, California in 2010. The exposition of my story starts off as the introduction to all the characters including Tom. It mainly focuses on the setting at school in the exposition and really gives you a lot of details. Next is the climax, the climax is when tom gets involved in a group that does a lot of bad things that hurt Tom, both physically and mentally. Tome starts to get involved in a lot of drugs and vandalism. Then my falling action is when Tom's parents find out that Tom is in this group and they seek help at a local rehab center and Tom's grades and parents start going up, and start caring. Finally my resolution is when Tom gets his grades back to all A's and Tom's teachers and parents are excited and Tom gets a scholarship to college.

My character Tom
For my Short Story I created this guy named Tom. Tom is a very handsome, attractive person who is also super smart. Nobody knows this but Tom plays 3 different sports, Football, Baseball, and he is also a boxer, and yet still manages to make straight A's. When Tom meet a kid named Brodie everything started to drop, and fail. Toms's grades started to fall, his sports started decreasing performance wise, and Tom got involved in drugs. THe moral of the story is Tom has to get his grades back up to straight A's before he can start playing anymore sports.
When Tom was falling asleep one day thoughts were racing in his mind from, "What are we having for dinner tomorrow", to "Man when is the next time Brodie and I can hook up". Tom's thoughts started to get worse and worse as the night went by. The next morning Tom woke up and was still wondering when he could get another dose of steroids.

Reading Response to Da Duh
In the book Da Duh,
I was really confused about Da Duh, I don't know why but it just seemed ver strange. In Da Duh I started getting confused when I had to think in my head about what she looked like. To me describing something that you can't say the name of is very hard to do. At the beginning of Da Duh I could't tell if that was a real person and they were talking about her, or if she was a soul or a spirit that was judging something. When you look at things from Da Duh's perspective you notice a big difference in her life compared to yours.
At the very end of Da Duh's short story I was really sad because even though it was really confusing, I actually enjoyed it. It was one of those things were it is so stupid that it is funny. To me Da Duh was a really lonely person because it seemed like all she did was talk to and about herself she wasn't really describing her friends.

Dell's Literacy Narrative
This week I have had the opportunity to listen to some amazing
literacy narratives. I have listened to Dell, Nathan, Paul, Mary-Beth, and
Wayne's (at tutorial). The one literacy narrative that I can't get out of my
head is Dell Portwood's. Dell's was amazing considering the fact that he has
dyslexia. Even though Dell has dyslexia his paper was better than mine, he had
little grammatical errors and had I could tell had very little trouble writing
his paper. To me writing about his thoughts towards having dyslexia are
extremely outstanding.
Dell is a bra person because he has the
braveness to tell everybody about him having dyslexia. If I had dyslexia I
probably wouldn’t tell anybody that I have it because to me I just don’t want
people to know that I have it.
Good Job Dell and
keep up the good work of trying to overcome having dyslexia!
E book
My thoughts about making an e book are pretty excited. I haven't made an e-book before and I don't really know what to expect. I don't now if I should come into class relaxed about the idea or start getting frustrated at it. Also the main reason that i am so excited about it is because the whole class teams up and makes 1 e-book. This is good because you have everybody's thoughts put together into a book.
Even though we haven't started our E books yet, I can't wait to make mine look amazing . On my e-book i want to make it stand out from everybody else's to make that happen I am going to do a different font. For example, maybe like trebuchet, or mikes. Just to make the paper stand out more than other people's. I probably won't put pictures on it because to me a book doesn't need pictures unless it is a picture book. Maybe I can even include a huge header for my paper. All these ideas are filling my head, and I am more than excited to start designing block 4's e-book

Response to Both of the Martin Luther King Jr. Videos
I watched all 17:29 seconds of the First video
Then I watched all 9 mins on the second video.
I think that Martin Luther King Jr. was a brave man and that God sent him to do the specific tasks of stopping segregation. Also I think that he is one of the most bravest people to ever step foot on this planet.

Reading Response to Edge of Apocalypse
In the past 4 chapters in was mainly the introduction to the book. It was describing the characters and what each of their roles were. But now in chapter 6 in is getting way more intense with the scientists building nuclear weapons and then people stealing the weapons trying to destroy the world, but the scientist and other military persons are stopping the thief's to defend the world. Then in Chapter 7 the plane that was carrying the nuclear weapons crashed and now the world is devastated because there will be no more lives left on Earth unless people find out a way to make a chemical that will destroy the nuclear gas.
